20km tour around Delft

Sunday afternoon, bright sun, and a pure craving for some sweat... Here we go, nose to the wind, with the strong intention to find a new circuit. Normally we go to the left, this time we will turn right!

Following the canal behind Bacinol, we have to be on the roads a bit to reach Delftse hout park. From then we follow the external circuit beside the car lane (west of the lake), and to some point we cross the canal to the left: we end up on a tiny mini asphalt band just beside the canal !! It's a bit scary but if you go slow enough you don't risk much (and anyway the canal is not really deep ;-)  A few bridges later, the band joins back the bike lane in the direction of Nootdorp - really sweet with all its yellow flowers, and the windmill in the distance!
At the intersection follow direction Delft to the left - it takes you all the way around Delftse hout, again along a canal. All the way at the end keep straight when you reach the pavement - it does not last for long, and turn to the right at Noordpolder to go through the green houses. At the exit take the road on the right for 50 m and a bike lane starts on the left that brings you at the back of Ikea. Turn left beside the car park and right at the exit. Again a bit of pavement but after the bridges of the highway a very nice and smooth bike lane brings you back to the entrance of Delft in front of Ikea. Cross the street and follow the bike lane, you arrive in front of the pointy double tower gate, get around it by the left on the road - you arrive back to the center!
Check out of the pix, we really had a great time - and the lovely weather definitely shows the best side of Holland...  ;-)

In-line skating in the Randstad

Hoi hoi groovy rollerbladers!

We intend to share our best circuits around Rotterdam, Delft & Vlaardingen and hope to meet you one of these days for a dynamite ride! There are some very cool 'fietspads' to enjoy between Schiedam and Delft, where you are surrounded by the countryside and its welcoming cows and sheeps ;-) Also cool is the rotterdam tour, starting in the center, following the Maas from the Eramus bridge to the Erasmus university, then going through Kralingen Park and back to the center, for a very cool ride of more than 15km - so cool in the summer season! And there is so much more to explore...!

But here I stop and keep a bit of mystery - until next time!
